Annual Battle of the Breeds: Obstacle Challenge
Now is the time to start getting ready! Is your breed Association or Group attending
the Expo? The Battle of the Breeds is a
fun way of showing off the different breeds of horses, mule or donkey in a unique
competition. The Obstacle Challenge is a trail course on steroids that tests
the partnership between a horse and rider while maneuvering through obstacles.
Who: Open to
horses/mules/donkeys that are at the Minnesota Horse Expo with a Breed Association
or Commercial Exhibit.
and Saturday at the Compeer Arena. (Entrants
must attend both days)
When: Approximately 6:00-8:00pm both days.
The horse/mule/donkey must be ridden in the
competition. Juniors may ride. All participants must sign a Minnesota Horse
There will be a novice and open division.
Open division – Experienced rider/horse that competes
in trail classes.
Novice division – Horses that regularly do NOT compete
in trail or obstacle shows, may be an experienced rider; may be in training to
be trail horse. Entries are limited.
The course will be 8-10 obstacles, it is judged on a
combination of speed and completion of the course. It is timed and judged and includes a 15
second refusal rule on each obstacle.
This is a fun competition however there will be some
awards to top competitors.
The Minnesota Horse Expo is well known for being a
showcase of diverse horse breeds. The
goal of the Challenge is to invite as many breeds of equines to participate as
