Carriage Driving: We've Made All The Mistakes So You Don't Have To.

Myrna Rhinehart started driving in 1990 and was introduced to carriage driving at that time. Finally, in 2000 after college and marriage, she started competing in American Driving Society (ADS) carriage shows. Since then, she and her students consistently earn Division Championships at ADS shows around the country. In 2011, she earned an ADS Pleasure Driving Achievement Award, and was elected to the ADS Board of Directors as the Midwest Regional Director. In 2013, Myrna was instrumental in starting the New Drivers section of the ADS website as Chair of the ADS Education Committee, on which she still serves.

Myrna specializes in teaching safe carriage driving practices, bitting the driving horse, competition strategies, equipment care, and harness ergonomics. She has a full library of educational articles and presentations on their website, www.ivccarriage.com She has spoken on harness fit and selection at the Midwest Horse Fair, The National Drive, and the ADS Annual Meeting.

In 2015, Myrna and her husband, Chad, purchased Iowa Valley Carriage, a full-service carriage driving supply store. Since they live in Wisconsin, the business has now been branded IVC Carriage. Through the store and giving lessons, they enjoy helping new drivers get started safely and successfully. Last March, they started a new student in carriage driving, and after winning three division championships, she earned the title of 2019 ADS Youth Pleasure Driving National Champion.
