Untamed Legacy: Wild Horses of Roosevelt’s Badlands is an immersive liberty and mounted horse performance that brings the spirit of the American West to life.This show celebrates the beauty, strength and legacy of the wild horses from Theodore Roosevelt National Park, alongside the horses of 1880s ranching during Theodore Roosevelt’s era in Medora, North Dakota, all brought to life through stunning liberty work, captivating ridden performances and immersive storytelling. Some of the horses featured in the production came directly out of the national park, bringing the legacy of the Badlands to the arena in a truly authentic way. Featuring skilled equestrians, stunning costumes and a compelling narrative, the event honors the land, the horses and the conservation efforts that allow these magnificent animals to thrive today.The full production is performed annually in Medora, North Dakota. Behind the Scenes

Go behind the scenes of Untamed Legacy: Wild Horses of Roosevelt’s Badlands during this special
interactive meet-and-greet experience once each day in the Cattle Barn Arena before the show.

Meet the horses and performers who bring the Untamed Legacy production to life and discover what it
takes to prepare for a live equestrian performance. Throughout the hour, guests will see live highlights of liberty horsemanship—including the liberty horses performing impressive formations together—along with mounted demonstrations, horse tricks, and specialty performances featured in the show.

Visitors will also discover some of the behind-the-scenes secrets of how the Untamed Legacy production comes together, while gaining a rare look at the training, preparation, and teamwork behind the performance.

Guests will have the opportunity to ask questions and see the horses and performers up close.

Untamed Legacy Show Cast Members

Laura Baker, Producer, Cast Member & Liberty Performer
Laura is a nationally recognized liberty horse trainer and performer who specializes in
building authentic partnerships through liberty work. Blending horsemanship, storytelling
and the untamed spirit of the West, she inspires others to find true connection with their
horses.

Heather Westby, Co-Producer & Elkhorn Rider/Cast Member
Heather is a lifelong horsewoman and trainer with success in WSCA, AQHA, reining, ranch
horse and mounted shooting. She logs 500+ trail miles annually, earning multiple titles, and
has represented the North Dakota Badlands Horse at the Minnesota Horse Expo, all while
raising her children in the western lifestyle.

Ethan Rienstra
Ethan began his announcing career in 2014 as the official voice of Southeast Pickup
Pullers Association as well as traveling and working with Arrow K Rodeo Company and
later with Bar S Rodeo Company. After his move to Minnesota, Ethan began calling the
action for amateur rodeos, ranch rodeos as well as team roping, barrel races and cowboy
mounted shoots as well as creating the desire to be a music director shortly after. Ethan
obtained his PRCA Music Director card in 2022 and quickly began spinning the tunes for
Pro Rodeo. Ethan works over fifty-five performances a year and is continuously adding
more and new shows to the books. He has been involved with productions in North
Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Michigan. Ethan is a 3-time
Minnesota High School Rodeo Association JH Finals Announcer, East River Rodeo Circuit
Finals Announcer, 2-time Wojo Rodeo Circuit Finals Announcer, URBA Finals Announcer,
2025 Badlands PBR Finals Announcer. When not on the road, Ethan enjoys spending
time in the vast outdoors that Northern Minnesota has to offer and sharpening his skills.

Ethan will be announcing In the Coliseum during the three days of the Minnesota Horse
Expo doing special duty as the show announcer for Untamed Legacy performances.

Eric Severson, Theodore Roosevelt/Cast Member
Rick Severson began his horseback journey in 2007 and quickly developed a
passion for the Western lifestyle. An avid cowboy mounted shooting competitor, he
combines horsemanship with speed and precision. Rick brings Theodore Roosevelt to life
in Untamed Legacy Show’s special one-hour performance at the Minnesota Horse Expo.

Mitch Baker, Elkhorn Rider/Cast Member
Mitch is a horse trainer and liberty enthusiast with Everyday Horsemanship, known for his
calm, patient approach. He focuses on building confidence, trust and true partnership between
horse and human, both under saddle and at liberty. Known for his calm, patient approach, he

Shelley Johnson, Elkhorn Rider/Cast Member
Shelley is a highly accomplished and versatile horsewoman with numerous accolades,
including all-around titles and world show championships. She has proven success in AQHA
events, Pleasure and English classes, Ranch Horse, mounted shooting and the Midwest
Extreme Obstacle Association.

Corrine Millberger, Elkhorn Rider/Cast Member
Born and raised in northern Minnesota, Corrine grew up riding and competing in
4-H and WSCA events. She studied Animal Science and colt training at UW–River Falls
and believes in trust, feel and clear communication to build true partnership with her horses.

Cory Furlong, Elkhorn Rider/Dog Trainer/Cast Member

Cory is a Montana based horsemanship and liberty trainer. She is passionate about
sharing the beauty of willing partnerships and the healing power of freedom. Not

limited to equines, Cory brings her passion to a variety of species and is making a

name for herself performing and teaching alongside her horses and dog across the

country.

Walter ‘The Wonder Dog’
Straight from the mountains of Montana, Walter is a four-year-old Labernese who
brings unexpected athleticism and heart to the arena. He loves to dance and perform in
harmony with his human partner, Cory Furlong, in a partnership built on trust, love and
a shared passion for the show.

Olivia Westby, Elkhorn Rider/Cast Member
At just 12 years old, Olivia is already an accomplished horsewoman, ranking 18th in
the world in the CMSA Wrangler Limited division in 2023. She has earned multiple
championship buckles across barrel racing, WSCA, saddle club events and Cowboy Mounted
Shooting. Olivia also logs hundreds of trail miles annually with Top Trail Horse.

Harrison Westby, Elkhorn Rider/Cast Member
At 9 years old, Harrison is finding his stride in the saddle, growing up immersed in the
western lifestyle. He competes in saddle club shows, WSCA games and Cowboy Mounted
Shooting and loves camping and riding with his family in Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

Lisa Severson, Elkhorn Rider/Cast Member

Lisa, a North Dakota native, fell in love with horses during childhood summers
in Medora watching wild herds roam. A self-described horse-crazy girl, she raised three
children on horseback. Now an empty nester, she lives on her forever property with six
horses and competes in Cowboy Mounted Shooting.

Kelly Bertils, MN Production Manager
Born and raised with horses, Kelli is a lifelong rider and owner with experience ranging
from trail riding to cowboy mounted shooting. Sheearned the 2025 Minnesota Overall Cowgirl
title with CMSA. A wife andmother of two, Kelli brings years of match-directing experience,
strong organizational skills and a commitment to delivering seamless, memorable
productions as Production Manager for Untamed Legacy Show.
