Cole Cameron


Cole Cameron was born in Arizona and raised between ranches in New Mexico and Texas. He is son to the legendary Hall of Fame Cowboy, Craig Cameron. Cole has the western way of life in his blood.

He was always a top student and a highly gifted athlete, competing in three sports throughout high-school. His achievements in football earned Cole a scholarship to play at Texas A&M University. Upon graduating with his Bachelors of Science in agriculture, he decided to pursue a graduate degree.

While completing his Masters at Texas A&M, he earned a rodeo scholarship and spot on the team. Cole competed on the Texas A&M Rodeo Team for two years and both years he was invited to the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) in Casper, Wyoming.

Cole has worked with some of the top horse trainers over his many years in the industry as well as competed in multiple disciplines including cutting, team roping, and reined cow horse. Cole regularly is invited as a clinician to expos including the Tennessee Horse Expo, Equine Affaire (Ohio & Massachusetts), Midwest Horse Fair, Michigan Horse Expo, South Dakota Horse Expo, and Equidays of New Zealand. In the past year, Cole has traveled to three countries and ten US States conducting horsemanship clinics. He continues to travel nationally and internationally, teaching the gentle horsemanship method that has been passed down from father to son. When Cole isn’t on the road, he is managing his family’s ranch in Bluff Dale, Texas where he and his father train horses, host horsemanship clinics, and maintains a cattle operation.

Cole is the 2021 Road to the Horse Wild Card Champion, 2023 Road to the Horse Reserve World Champion, and a 5-time EXCA World Champion along with many other awards and accomplishments. At the 2022 EXCA World Championship, Cole claimed the Pro Division World Championship which secured his entry into the 2023 Calgary Stampede Cowboy Up Challenge. He competes regularly in NRCHA, SHTX (Stock Horse of Texas) and East Texas Stock Horse Association events.

Cole takes great pride in following in his legendary father’s footsteps by helping people worldwide develop great horses and horsemanship skills.

Introduction to Reining

Over the past two decades Reining has grown significantly in popularity across the county.  It is a component of NRCHA competitions and is also included in many ranch versatility shows. Each reining pattern demonstrates the horse's athleticism, balance, and responsiveness to the cues of the rider.  Cole will work with each rider on achieving

Introduction to Roping


Cole will work with riders and their horses on techniques to set them up for success roping. He will teach participants the basics of how to hold the rope, build a loop, throw several different types of loops for head and heel catches, correct pull slack, and how to dally on the horn. Using a roping sled, Cole will teach riders to position themselves properly with the cow and fine tune their skills.

Saturday, April 26

Beginning Cow Work for Competitio
n

Techniques to take your horse past the novice stage of competitive cow work. Cole will teach participants proper flag work exercises and drills good for any horse any age to prepare them for live cow work. He will focus on fine-tuning each rider’s position, control and timing that is involved with successfully tracking and working cows.

Horsemanship

Good horsemanship fosters success in every discipline of the equine industry.  Building up your horses’ confidence through consistent and precise cues is critical for progression. Cole will work closely with participants to implement the proper pressure and release to receive the desired response such as collection, extension, and lead changes.

Sunday, April 27

Introduction to Ranch Riding

Ranch Riding is a popular AQHA class which allows riders to display their well-rounded and versatile horse working in their natural gait. Participants will work to demonstrate smooth movements in various gaits which will be put together in sequence . Cole will assist participants to achieve control of their horse at the walk, trot and lope, while developing smooth transitions.  He will help the riders execute proper turns, stops, and the backup, all of which contribute to a successful competition ranch riding pattern.

Working with a Problem Horse

Navigating unwanted behavior can be challenging. Cole will work with horse and rider to demonstrate exercises to overcome the unique issues they are facing.
